This initiative upgrades the airport’s visual aids, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada’s Aerodromes Standards and Recommended Practices (TP312, 5th Edition), which mandate high-visibility markings for safe aircraft operations.

The retro-reflective signs, designed for superior nighttime visibility on unlit or remote runways, delineate edges, thresholds, and guidance paths, reducing risks in low-light conditions common to the Central Coast region. Aviation Renewables Supplies Helipad Lighting and Markers for Medevac Operations
Helipad Lighting. Aviation Renewables recently supplied helipad markers and solar lighting for a helipad in Manitoba, Canada. The retro-reflective helipad markers are specifically designed for medevac operations and are in use at over 100 sites serviced by medevac helicopters in Ontario and Manitoba. Helipad Markers and Solar Lights Supplied by Aviation Renewables The Most Installed Helipad Markers in The Industry The markers are designed to maximize light reflection at the approach angle, resulting in visual contact in both visible and NVG conditions at 3-5 miles on approach. The reflective markers are manufactured using robust UV-Stable Polyethlene, which provides for decades of service when exposed to the elements. The markers have replaceable aluminum sheaths which are coated in a micro-prismatic reflective material to simplify refurbishment every 7-10 years to restore reflectivity. The solar lights mounted to the top of the markers are self-contained green lights which require no electrical inputs or maintenance. Reflective Taxiway Markers Support Day & Night Operations At Airport
Synopsis Aviation Renewables supplied retroreflective taxiway edge light markers for use at a large international airport in the Bahamas. The markers offer an ideal complement to the solar runway lighting, at a fraction of the cost. Challenge The Bahamian Airport has been in the process of rebuilding after suffering catastrophic damage from a Hurricane in 2019. The existing electrical infrastructure for airfield ground lighting (AGL) was inundated by seawater and destroyed. As part of the rebuilding process, the airport elected to use Solar Runway Edge lighting. These self-contained lights were installed at a lower cost than conventional lighting and are IP68 waterproof to prevent damage from any future damage from seawater at the low-lying airport. Due to the limited budget that the airport was allocated for re-construction, they were eager to find ways to save money while still offering a fully ICAO-compliant lighting system for night operations. Solution Aviation Renewables manufactured and supplied iSeries 600-2T taxiway markers for this project. The 600-2T meets ICAO standards for taxiway edge markers and allows airports to be compliant while working within limited budgets. The 600-2T is the only taxiway marker on in the industry to feature a replaceable reflective sleeve, making it simple to restore the reflectivity of the unit without disposing of the entire structure. The micro-prismatic reflectivity is visible from over 1km at night, giving clear guidance to pilots. Given the challenging salt-laden environment, the marker was shipped with a unique CPVC flange which will prevent corrosion. The markers can be affixed to concrete with expansion anchors, secured to soil using spikes, or mounted to threaded stakes. Reflective Runway Markers Solution to Enable 24/7 Operations at Airport
Synopsis Reflective Runway Markers. Aviation Renewables designed and supplied a refurbishment kit for a private runway using the Models 324 & 336 Retroreflective Runway markers. The airport had been using the markers for decades, and needed a specially designed reflective sheath in order to extend the life of the existing markers. Challenge The client is a municipal airport in Canada. Some decades ago, they invested in a reflective marking solution to enable 24/7 operations at their airport. The FAA L853 reflectors were faded after years of being exposed to the sun and were in need of refurbishment. The bases, however, were still in good condition and could remain in place and need new reflective markers. The airport sought help from Aviation Renewables to design, manufacture and deliver new retroreflective sheaths and markers in order to continue using their existing marker bases. Solution The existing markers used HDPE bases that were still in good condition. The bases were anchored to the ground, so it made sense to keep the anchoring in place and replace the reflective panel alone. Aviation Renewables provided new reflective sheaths that comply with L853 standards. The reflective sheeting on the aluminum sheath is micro-prismatic conspicuity material that complies with ASTM D4956. The thin, flexible sheeting has a unique appearance featuring a printed triangular white line pattern. It provides superior visibility and conspicuity to oncoming aircraft which results in improved safety. The aluminum sheaths will not corrode, and we anticipate them having a service life of 15 years. The UV and solvent resistant coatings ensure durability which allows for rugged outdoor use. Conspicuity-grade ma- terial like this is typically 6 or 7 times more reflective than a comparable color in an engineering-grade reflective tape since prism technology is used instead of glass beads, which greatly increases the visible range of the runway markers. The sheaths shipped with new tethers to ensure FOD control in case of accidental damage to the marker. The airport installed the sheaths on the existing bases with simple tools, and was able to conduct the retrofit without need for closure of the runway. Aviation Renewables provided assistance during the execution of the refurbishment kit project to ensure all reflective runway markers were installed properly along with maintenance instruction provided to airport personnel. Taxiway Edge Markers and Windsock Lighting Solution for 24/7 Operations
Synopsis Reflective Edge Marker. Aviation Renewables supplied Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas with its iSeries retro reflective taxi- way edge markers and Solar Series LED windcones for day and nighttime airfield operations. The ICAO compliant retro reflective taxiway markers complement existing LED airfield lighting as a redundant taxiway back up marking system in the event of electrical failures with the Solar Series LED Windcones replacing existing electrically powered windcones. The iSeries and Solar Series LED airfield lighting and taxiway marking solutions help meet LPIA’s energy, maintenance, emergency preparedness and carbon reduction targets. Challenge As the Caribbean’s busiest airport, Lynden Pindling International Airport faces increasing operating challenges including storm surge salt water flooding, salt corrosion, high temperatures and major hurricanes. As part of their adaptation and mitigation strategies, LPIA identified a need for a simple, ICAO compliant taxiway marking and LED windcone solution that would enable the airport to remain operational in the event of a loss of an LED airfield lighting circuit. As part of the airport’s multi-year runway resurfacing project, LPIA received a mandate to minimize electrical use, reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions with ICAO-compliant LED airfield lighting and taxiway marking products. Solution The taxiways now feature redundant, passive retroreflective markers at each taxiway light position. These markers are highly visible at night, with reflected light visible from 1km or more. The markers allow the airport to continue using the taxiways in the event of a circuit failure. They also add extra visibility to the lights for airside vehicle traffic, preventing vehicles from damaging lights that are not illuminated. The Solar Series S3612 LED windcone is an ICAO compliant Wind Direction Indicator with no electrical input. The 100W solar panel and self-contained battery are mounted directly to the base of the pole, acting as unique counter weight to the tilt-pole design and keeping all electrical components above ground. With all equipment located above ground, any chance of water intrusion during heavy tropical down- pours or flooding is reduced, which further enhances the reliability and durability of the Solar Series LED Windcone. The Bahamas’ electricity is generated by diesel fuel, so having solar LED airfield lighting and reflective taxiway systems will help mitigate the carbon impact of the airport’s electricity use.
